The plus side of taken the unbeaten path is the little treasures you find. Driving back from Decatur this past weekend, the parental unit and I took the long route home along US Highway 278, and in doing so we stumbled upon Natural Bridge of Alabama.

The Natural Bridge is a 148-foot sandstone bridge towers 60 feet above winding pathways and is the longest natural bridge east of the Rockies. There are some great hiking paths through and around the Bridge.

I had no idea this place even existed, and I lived in Alabama for 12 years.

What are some of your favorite Alabama roadside attractions?
