I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend celebrating with friends and family, and eating way TOO much food!
This year for Thanksgiving, my immediate family and I gathered at our family farm in south Alabama for a quiet weekend of fun and relaxation. My parents and I drove down on Tuesday night after I got off work, and my brother joined us on Wednesday around lunch time.
I pretty much spent the whole weekend reading. I’m currently in the midst of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (I know I’m a late getting on the bandwagon), and I can’t seem to put the books down! I finished up the 7th book in the series, An Echo in the Bone, and immediately picked up book 8, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. While mom and I were absorbed in our books, the boys fixed up the barn and a finished up a couple of housekeeping items around the property.
Despite it being just the four of us, my mom prepared an incredible Thanksgiving feast complete with all our favorite items!
We seriously ate to our heart’s content all weekend, and I know I’m seriously going to regret it tomorrow morning when I go to the gym bright and early! But hey, it’s Thanksgiving…so why not break the diet for one weekend!
On Saturday, after an eventful day, we gathered around my brother’s TV projector to watch the Iron Bowl. (Roll Tide!) It was pretty great way to watch the game, since the past couple of year’s we’ve been at the farm during this game we had to drive the hour into town to watch it at a restaurant. We seriously enjoyed the flexibility of getting to watch it at the house. Thank you portable WiFi and streaming ESPN!
And what a game! Alabama got it’s revenge from last year’s Iron Bowl by defeating Auburn 55-44 in Tuscaloosa! It was beautiful, and after the defeat of Mississippi State earlier in the day it only means that Alabama clinches its SEC West title and is moving onto the SEC Championship game in Atlanta next weekend against Missouri! ROLL TIDE!
We all crashed after the post-game last night, and got up early this morning to make the drive back to Atlanta. All in all, it was a pretty great weekend and I’m so glad I got to spend it with my awesome family!
I’ll leave y’all with some pictures from the weekend!
