World’s Largest Pistachio

If you travel along U.S. 54 between Alamogordo and Tularosa, you cannot miss the World’s Largest Pistachio!

This quirky roadside attraction is located on a pistachio farm, known as PistachioLand, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Revealed in 2008, the pistachio was initially built in memory of Tom McGinn, the owner and founder of PistachioLand.

The World’s Largest Pistachio stands 30-feet tall and was constructed using over five yards of concrete and 35 gallons of paint to give the enormous green cashew a strangely real look.

In addition to seeing the World’s Largest Pistachio, McGinn’s Pistachio Tree Ranch and Winery Gift Shop is another great reason for a pit-stop! Be sure to pick up a bag of pistachios to enjoy on your road trip and sample the homemade ice cream. My personal favorite ice cream flavor was the pistachio and almond.
